There are several ways to view and edit your computer power & sleep settings. If you opt for using the Control Panel, the following steps are the same for Windows 7, 8, and 10.
Navigate to your control panel. If you are not sure how to find it, simply tap on the Windows key next to your space bar and type the words “control panel”.
Once there, select System and Security.
Under “Power Options” select “Change when the computer sleeps”. This will take you to the screen that allows you to view and change the power and sleep settings of your current power plan.
If you are on a desktop computer you only need to be concerned with the right column “Plugged In”. If you are on a laptop computer, both columns will affect the power state of your computer.
